I urge you to pass HB 1356 (Establishing Paid Sick and Safe Days) and HB 1355 (Raising the Statewide Minimum Wage to $12/hour). These two bills are very important to me, and to thousands of working women and their families in our state. Women make up nearly half the workforce and earn a majority of college degrees in Washington, but still hold the majority of low wage jobs. A higher minimum wage and access to paid leave means women will be more likely to save for education, will be less vulnerable during a health or other crisis, and will have more income in retirement. They will also have more to spend in local businesses. Higher wages and paid leave will boost our economy and the well-being of all Washington families. Please help Washington's women and families succeed by passing HB 1356 and HB 1355.
